Rough Beginnings

Smorking?

Not loving Japan yet. Really rough first day. After really long 24+ flight (including connections), I was stoked to get my first taste of Tokyo. This is what I got instead:
  • No one speaks English or understands me, I feel like a moron walking around aimlessly
  • Lugging my 140+ pound luggage around
  • Really hot and humid
  • People stare at me on the streets strangely
  • Lost while trying to get to my friend's apartment (which I never made it to)
  • I do not understand any signs/maps/anything
  • While trying to nap on the 2 hour bus ride, the little Japanese girls next to me when giggling and taking pictures of me "sneakily" the whole time. Needless to say, it was embarrassing and I did not get any sleep...
  • EVERYTHING is freaking expensive, aka 8 dollar hot dog
  • Overpriced hotel forcing me to check out 10am...(I struggled to barter it to a noon checkout time)
Best part of my day so far: the toilets in the hotel spray your butt.

Today I am meeting my program and fellow classmates at 5 pm at the local train station. Wish me luck...
